April 4, 2025 – The immersive exhibition "Tutankhamun" is a unique journey into the world of Ancient Egypt through digital technologies and multimedia solutions in an edutainment format. Produced by Madrid Artes Digitales (MAD), the exhibition was created in collaboration with multimedia production studio SILA SVETA. It was initially launched in Madrid to mark the 100th anniversary of Tutankhamun's tomb discovery by archaeologist Howard Carter.

Running for the first time in London, the "Tutankhamun" retraces the life of the famous pharaoh and recounts the history of Ancient Egypt and its emergence as a civilization, from the origins of writing to the symbolism of color. It showcases the tomb of Tutankhamun and a wealth of other landmarks, including the Pyramid of Giza and the Valley of the Kings. Special attention is given to the "Book of the Dead" and Tutankhamun's journey to the afterlife.
Spanning over 26,000 ft, the exhibition features one of Europe's largest immersive video mapping rooms with spectacular 8-metre-high projections. The main narrative is presented in a large panoramic hall with a 360-degree projection on the walls and floor, as well as in a dome projection hall. For most of the simulations, Houdini was used to enhance the depth and intricacy of scenes. The mirror room is filled with abstract content of hieroglyphs and ornaments featuring visual representations of Ancient Egypt's codes.
This exhibition marked the world premiere of the hologram showcasing the mummification process and the Egyptian afterlife in an immersive format. A special "holographic box" was created in the museum hall, where the projection was displayed through the floor onto a mirrored screen using the Pepper's Ghost effect, with the audience seated in the stalls. This highly sensitive material requires near-sterile conditions at the installation site to prevent surface wrinkles, as well as complete blackout during the exhibition to avoid unwanted light interference and preserve the illusion of depth.
At the heart of the hologram installation is a physical table, around which the projection unfolds. The holographic content seamlessly blends live-action footage with cutting-edge visual effects. This five-minute holographic sequence has become one of the exhibition's most captivating highlights. The "Tutankhamun" exhibition, offering an approximate 90-minute experience, will run until June 29, 2025. First presented in 2022, it has been showcased in 14 countries, including the Grand Egyptian Museum.
